GRADUATE WORK SHOWCASE- A 21st Century Mathematics Classroom
The art of teaching high school mathematics will always be a work in process. One of my strengths showcased by the work below is my adaptability to these changes. Whether it be through the use of technology, action-research, or collaboration, I now have multiple avenues to continue this evolution.

ONLINE RESOURCE LIBRARY
Geometry and Algebra 2 This presentation contains a collection of technology resources for courses in Geometry and Algebra 2. The goal is for teachers to have access to a wealth of activities and instructional aids organized by the common units of the course. In the class I was given a choice of presentation methods, and selected Prezi due to its unique navigation capabilities and aesthetics value. RE-PURPOSING TECHNOLOGY
Geometry Alphabet Book This lesson plan was created to re-purpose technology resources to fulfill their educational potential. Students are asked to collaborate with peers using the Google App - Goggle Presentation to create a Digital "A to Z" Geometry Vocabulary Book. Once students define terms for each letter of the alphabet they must find a real-world example or photograph to further explain the concept. Once their slides are finished they will upload their work into the Video Slideshow Program Animoto., which allows for uploading music, selecting themes, and edit transitions before producing their final digital “book” CLICK HERE to view the Geometry ABCs Lesson Plan in a new window. |
DIGITAL STORYTELLING
Surface Area and Volume Cartoon In this assignment I used the educational technology (GoAnimate) to create a digital story as a review of the Geometry topics surface area and volume. This demonstrates a creative option, blending images, text, first-person narration, and music, for students and teachers to shape and craft content in powerful ways. I had to spend time creating a script that would be informative, but also entertaining to a group of teenage students. One of my favorite elements was the ability to record my own voice for Polly! ACTION RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Self-Regulation in the High School Math Classroom The following proposal was created in hopes of developing a plan to increase students ability to self-regulate when learning mathematics and subsequent impact on self-efficacy and awareness of individual performance. My proposal provides the research of others on similar topics in a literature review, before I present my own plan for research using student surveys, journaling, clipboard notes, assessment questionnaires. and exit interviews. While this was only a proposal for research, and not actually executed, there is a section devoted to qualitative and quantitative data analysis to guide individuals when performing such a plan. ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT
Formative Assessment in the High School Math Classroom This presentation describes my my research using Dan Meyer's Comprehensive Assessment Tool as a formative assessment tool to improve student performance and subsequent attitude, confidence, and persistence in problem solving. Elements of my research include a series of questions that led to my interest in the topic, a literature review of related research, data collection tools with actual student results, and possibilities for future questions and research.
